Make Doctors Take Your Concerns Seriously: Gwendolyn’s Story

Make Doctors Take Your Concerns Seriously: Gwendolyn’s Story

As told by her daughter LaKeitha

My mother passed away after experiencing difficulty breathing for a week. Despite visiting the doctor, they didn’t consider a blood clot.

One night, fearing the worst, my father rushed her to the hospital. Tests on her upper body led to her admission due to ongoing breathing issues.

Tragically, she passed shortly after being admitted. Doctors later determined that a blood clot from her leg (deep vein thrombosis) had traveled to her lungs, leading to a pulmonary embolism.

The random passing of my mother has forever changed my life. That was the day a part of me died too. During this time, I’ve strengthened my relationship with God and attended therapy. My only goal is to constantly make her proud.

My advice to others is to get checked and make doctors take your concerns seriously. The loss of a loved one is never easy, you just have to learn how to deal with the pain. Try to return it back into the world and do some good.
