TITLE

Development and Community Outreach Specialist (Exempt Position)
Reporting to the Deputy Director

SALARY

$42-$47K, plus opportunity for discretionary bonus

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Helps develop strategy to grow NBCA’s volunteer base and third-party events
  • Serves as first point of contact for community volunteers and ongoing engagement and tracking, including a national network of 100+ and growing Thrombassadors to the organization
  • Engages and supports third-party event volunteers and peer-to-peer fundraisers to ensure successful event and positive working relationship with NBCA
  • Assists with coordination, planning and preparation of materials and communications for in-person and virtual events
  • Takes lead responsibility of NBCA webstore, including coordination with vendors and expansion of merchandise catalogue
  • Serves as main contact for all existing Team Stop the Clot events, including but not limited to, NBCA’s 100,000 Reasons Challenge, NBCA 5K, NYC Marathon, etc.
  • Helps create strategy to grow Team Stop the Clot participation and revenue
  • Manages the organization’s participation in national medical conferences, including metrics tracking and event follow up, and personally represents the organization at several of the conferences
  • Provides support for donor communications, mailings, and materials, to demonstrate NBCA’s mission, showcase program results and accomplishments, and encourage continued support
  • Implements strategies to help grow NBCA’s digital fundraising program, including data segmentation, digital campaigns, and introducing new technologies and ideas
  • Coordinates with marketing and communications staff on social media content for all initiatives related to fundraising, events, volunteers, and program outcomes
  • Assists in maintaining accuracy of donor database and gift entry in eTapestry donor database
  • Assists in timely and accurate reporting of program results to various funders
  • Develops relationships with community partner organizations to increase NBCA’s reach across various patient groups
  • Assists in development, production, and promotion of organization’s core patient education programs, PEP Talk and Mini PEP Talk

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 3 years relevant professional or community experience. Health communications background is a plus. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and administrative tasks concurrently, with attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite. Ability to learn, update and maintain database and fundraising platforms. Innovative and self-starting attitude with ability to work independently, off-site. Must be proficient in technology, social media and data analytics. Graphic and presentation design, and/or digital media experience are a plus, including familiarity with eTapestry, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, or similar programs. Ability to travel up to 10%.
