Volunteer Spotlight: Roland Varga

Volunteer Spotlight: Roland Varga

Introducing Roland Varga, our April Volunteer of the Month.  Over the years, Roland has become our go-to Clot Buster.  As the man behind the ever growing ‘‘Clot Buster Blog’, Roland has provided support, encouragement, along with an assortment of gear  for our Team Stop the Clot® athletes since 2008.

Roland became involved with the National Blood Clot Alliance after his wife, Liz, a founding member of NBCA, was diagnosed with a genetic clotting disorder. Roland and Liz began raising awareness of blood clots and clotting disorders nearly 14 years ago.  Today, the blog remains a staple for recently diagnosed athletes as Roland provides monthly highlights of athletes working towards our lifesaving mission – prevention and awareness.  The blog provides inspiration and hope for those who’ve been diagnosed and limited to their activities.  His message is clear – blood clot survivors can do anything and they deserve to be celebrated.

Roland’s work can be seen throughout our Team Stop The Clot community.  Those famous polka dots that our athletes wear are his creation!  And, a wide variety of ‘Clot Buster’ gear can be purchased directly from his blog, with proceeds supporting NBCA.  In addition to all of this, Roland (and Liz) both participate in many athletic endeavors  in support of our mission. Frequently, their young sons will be out there with them as  official “junior” Clot Busters.

Roland’s positivity is unmatched and inspirational. He is an outstanding asset to our Team Stop The Clot members and to organization. Thank you, Roland, for all that you’ve done and accomplished for the National Blood Clot Alliance, Team Stop the Clot and survivors everywhere.
