🏃‍♀️ Anyslee Roberts of Idaho shares why she’s running for Team Stop the Clot:

“After being hospitalized for over a week due to multiple PEs, I spent three months on blood thinners and went through the physical and mental challenges of recovery. This experience forced me to confront both the immediate physical impacts and the long-term implications of living with clotting issues, something that I still face today. The journey has made me committed to raising awareness and supporting those affected by blood clots.”

Seven years ago, NBCA President Leslie Lake’s life changed in an instant when a blood clot in her lungs nearly took it. She was simply walking home from the dry cleaner when she suddenly couldn’t breathe.

Today marks Leslie’s 7th clotiversary, and we’re honoring her journey from survivor to fierce advocate.

In a recent interview with AARP, Leslie opened up about her frightening experience and the lack of support she faced after diagnosis, which ultimately led her to NBCA.

“I was given a second chance,” Leslie said. “Now I want to pay that forward. If sharing my story helps save even one life, it’s worth it.”

We’re grateful to AARP for helping spread awareness about blood clots, especially in people over 50, who face higher risk.

Tilly struggled mentally and physically after bein

Tilly struggled mentally and physically after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and May-Thurner syndrome at 19.

To process her experience and spread much-needed awareness, Tilly created a short documentary that tells the story of Kari, another DVT survivor, and we are thrilled to share it.

“This is a story about being believed and about being seen and about finding the people who will hold you up, no matter what is running through your veins,” Tilly says in the video.

🏳️‍🌈 This Pride Month, we're spotlighting Katherine’s story, a powerful reminder of the importance of knowing and managing blood clot risks for transgender women.

When calf pain turned out to be a sign of a life-threatening pulmonary embolism (PE), Katherine was forced to pause her hormone therapy journey for seven painful months. But with the support of her care team, she eventually found a way to safely resume HRT while continuing anticoagulation treatment.

Her message: Don’t ignore the signs of a blood clot. Pain, swelling, and shortness of breath are symptoms you should never brush off—no matter where you are in your journey.

My mom, sister, and I miss him dearly every day. I couldn't be more excited to run 26.2 miles in his honor and help fundraise for such an amazing cause.”

People with cancer are up to 7 times more likely to develop a blood clot, and for many, the risk doesn’t end when treatment does. Blood clots remain one of the leading causes of death in cancer patients—even among survivors.
