The National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) is proud to announce the launch of its Community Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Excellence Program — a new initiative designed to expand access to high-quality blood clot care beyond the hospital setting.
Each year, approximately 900,000 Americans experience a blood clot, yet access to timely diagnosis and treatment remains inconsistent — particularly in community and outpatient settings where many patients first seek care.
This program was created to help close that gap.
By recognizing outpatient and community-based centers that meet rigorous standards for DVT care, NBCA is working to ensure that more patients can receive timely, evidence-based treatment closer to home, with clear pathways for escalation when more advanced care is needed.
Importantly, not every blood clot requires hospital-based care — but every patient deserves the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
The Community DVT Excellence Program complements NBCA’s hospital-based VTE Centers of Excellence™, helping to build a more coordinated, patient-centered system of care across the full continuum — from initial diagnosis through treatment and follow-up.
