Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Scott

Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Scott

Introducing our May Volunteer of the Month, Lisa Scott. Lisa came to the National Blood Clot Alliance three years ago after the loss of her beloved brother, Michael Scott. Michael was only 43 years old when he lost his life due to a pulmonary embolism as a result of a blood clot (DVT) in his leg.  Believing that Michael’s life could have been saved, Lisa reached out to NBCA to see how she could get involved.

After attending our Walk to Stop The Clot® NYC in 2015, Lisa, with the help of her family and friends, took on the leadership role of planning subsequent activities honoring Michael’s memory. Lisa has been instrumental in raising funds and awareness through their combined networks, including annual sponsorship from her employer, United Healthcare.

The National Blood Clot Alliance is so grateful to Lisa and the rest of Michael’s family and friends for their dedication in raising awareness and sharing his story throughout the country. We are looking forward to the 2017 Walk to Stop the Clot® NYC, taking place on Saturday, June 17.  Thank you and congratulations, Lisa!
