Jill Cowley is Raising Funds and Awareness in her Cousin’s Memory

After her 41-year-old cousin died of a pulmonary embolism in September 2023, Jill Cowley felt prompted to take action.

Determined to do something positive in Chandra’s memory, she partnered with the National Blood Clot Alliance in August 2024 organizing the 1st Annual Chandra’s Stop the Clot Charity Golf Tournament in Oswego, NY followed by a banquet.

A portion of the funds that were raised was donated to NBCA in Chandra’s memory.

Chandra McFarland was a mother of two and served as a social worker in Oswego County Child Protective Services for more than 10 years. She also worked as a bartender and was known for her famous Bloody Marys.

Jill’s efforts in spreading awareness in Chandra’s memory didn’t end there. Jill, who works in healthcare, saw an opportunity to help deepen the understanding of blood clots among her fellow healthcare professionals. She established another event to share NBCA’s no-cost continuing education curriculum with her colleagues.

To take her volunteering further, Jill completed NBCA Community Thrombassador training and continues to spread blood clot awareness at every opportunity.

Thank you, Jill, for being such a passionate volunteer with the National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA). Your efforts and dedication to Stop the Clot are deeply appreciated.
