Options for Involvement: How You Can Help the NBCA

The mission of the National Blood Clot Alliance is to prevent, diagnose and treat thrombosis and thrombophilia through research, education, support and advocacy.

Thank you for your interest in helping NBCA implement its mission at the local level.   We are often contacted by individuals wishing to get involved with NBCA in their community.  The information below will provide you with an overview and description of these options.  By completing our questionnaire we’ll begin the process of working with you in meeting your needs and NBCA’s needs of your region.

NBCA Teaches!

NBCA works closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), thrombophilia centers and anticoagulation clinics on its Stop the Clot® Education Project, which includes such programs as:

  • Stop the Clot®  Forums for patients and families
  • Webinars and online continuing education programs for healthcare professionals

As part of our cooperative agreement with CDC, NBCA developed a do-it-yourself toolkit  for volunteers to use to plan and execute a Stop the Clot® Forum.   These education programs help inform the general and at-risk population about the statistics, risk factors and treatment options for blood clots and clotting disorders.  NBCA provides instructional materials, templates, slide sets, and national–based staff support to assist in bringing these educational opportunities to your area.  If you’re interested in helping this way, please click here.

NBCA Funds!

Fundraising activities are aimed at raising awareness and financial support to help NBCA fund its overall mission.  Local volunteer organized special events, such as a Stop the Clot® Walk, Golf Tournament, Auction (silent, live or online) or other activities are excellent opportunities to rally support for National Blood Clot Alliance while providing information about blood clots and clotting disorders.  Our special events toolkit and our publicity toolkitprovide the guidance and direction to ensure your event will be a success!  Personal fundraising appeals through our NAThlete program, letter writing or online campaigns are also effective means of showing your interest and support of this important cause.  Whatever you choose, NBCA will provide logos, banners and educational materials, in addition to staff guidance in ensuring the best possible outcome for your activities.  If you’re interested in helping this way, please click here.
