Learn More about Thrombosis and Thrombophilia
According to the US Surgeon General the incidence of deep vein
thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary
embolism ranges between 350,000 to
600,000 per year with an estimated 100,000 deaths per year. Recent
numbers from a study by Dr. John Heit from the Mayo Clinic suggest the
numbers may be much higher. While the statistics may vary the numbers are
staggering. NATT is working every day to increase awareness about
thrombosis and thrombophilia and help to "Stop the Clot".

interactive map. What ever the numbers, most of these lives could have been saved if more patients
and health professionals had known about
the
symptoms, risks, and
treatments.

Research
One of NATT's key objectives is to “promote and assist with research efforts relating to all aspects of thrombosis and thrombophilia."
Clinical Trials
Patients are needed to participate in ongoing research to learn more about risk factors, treatment and prevention of thrombosis. To learn more about clinical investigations underway related to thrombosis and thrombophilia, click on the following links:

Many of these patients had thrombophilia - an inherited condition that makes
people more prone to blood clots. NATT has assembled a comprehensive set of resources for patients and health professionals designed to increase awareness and "Stop the Clot".
