National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) presented a free webinar for healthcare professionals entitled “Helping Women Make Choices About Contraception after a DVT.”
This webinar is part of a Clinical Pearls webinar series developed by NBCA to address current topics related to VTE (venous thromboembolism) with practical tactics to improve patient adherence.
The webinar focuses on how healthcare professionals can help a young woman choose safe options for birth control after a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and also addresses the impact of thrombophilias on VTE risk with oral contraception. Through applying an effective and easy-to-understand “5A” framework for catalyzing patient behavior change, healthcare professionals will learn the 5A actions of assess, advise, agree, assist, and arrange to guide patient decisions and influence patient participation in the plan of care. This webinar is supported by Cooperative Agreement 5U27 DD00545-01 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
