The National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) Website User Poll Results Released

September 23, 2009 – Tarrytown, NY – Today NBCA released the results of its first ever website user poll.  The survey was conducted to gather user input to help NBCA better serve website users in support of its mission is to prevent, diagnose and treat thrombosis and thrombophilia through research, education, support and advocacy.

“Our first year report card resulted in an “A” with an average rating of 4.75 out of 5 for the overall user experience.” said Alan Brownstein, CEO, of NBCA.  “We are pleased with the progress we have made in such a short time and will use the survey results to help us improve the user experience over the next year.”

The NBCA website is funded in part by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention under a cooperative agreement as well as grants from corporate sponsors and donations from individuals.

In 2008, NBCA launched the “1.5 version” of the website with newly updated and revised online content for individuals with Thrombophilia – an underserved population with a high risk to develop deep vein thrombosis (DVT) – as a result of genetic pre-disposition.  The vast majority of those responding to the website poll were persons who had experienced a blood clot or identified themselves as having a blood clotting disorder.

“Site traffic has grown over 450% in the past year and to keep up with increased subject matter demand, NBCA will be implementing new features to the website over the next year.”  said Brownstein.  “New features will include video patient diaries, articles detailing the latest treatments and more interactive content concerning diagnosis, prevention and treatment for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia.”
